Is the fifth installment of "Indiana Jones" set to be released in 2018 with Harrison Ford in the lead role?

Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, recently confirmed the news that "Indiana Jones 5" is on the way from the production house, during an interview with Bloomberg, The Independent reported.

Meanwhile, there have been reports claiming that "Avatar" director Steven Spielberg wants to sign Harrison Ford for his continuation of the "Indiana Jones" franchise.

Other reports suggest that Chris Pratt is the frontrunner if Disney decides to retire Ford from the role.

"It's certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman," said Spielberg expressing his view on casting other actors instead of Ford, Screen Daily reported.

The highly acclaimed director is hell bent on casting Harrison Ford over other famous actors for the lead role, as he feels that Ford is the only person who can portray the Indiana Jones character, Classicalite claimed.

In fact, according to Venture Capital Post Harrison Ford is excited to work on the next installment of the classic adventure series.

He reportedly said that he would love to reprise his role in "Indiana Jones 5" a chance. Ford teased that he wouldn't want to miss the fun journey with Steven Spielberg as the director.

While there hasn't been any confirmed casting news yet, there are reportedly other actors who are being considered for the "Indiana Jones 5" lead role namely Chris Pine, Lee Pace, Bradley Cooper and Henry Cavill, Movie News Guide revealed.

Steven Spielberg will reportedly direct the sequel with Phili Kaufman and George Lucas writing the script.

With "Indiana Jones 5" still in the early stages of development, more news is expected to come out in the coming days.
