'Pokken Tournament': Pokemon Game To Be Out In US With Special Controller On Nintendo's Wii U This Year!
Nintendo will be launching the "Pokken Tournament," an arcade-based Pokémon fighting game on their Wii U platform this March.
The game which features Pokemons battling in arenas similar to Namco's "Tekken" was initially released for arcade in Japan. It features familiar favorites including Pikachu, Machamp, Weavile, Charizard, Blaziken, Lucario, Gardevoir, Suicune and Shadow Mewtwo.
Pokemon Co. Japan has released the upcoming title's first trailer.
Although absent in the introduction trailer, Nintendo has previously confirmed five other Pokemons to appear in the game, namely Victini, Sceptile, Togekiss, Rotom, and Dragonite.
First-run orders of Nintendo's "Pokken Tournament" will include an amiibo card that allows players to unlock characters quickly instead of acquiring them through gameplay.
According to Yibada, Nintendo will be releasing "Pokken Tournament" with its own special controller which is based on the arcade machine released exclusively in Japan in July last year. Fortunately, the upcoming Wii U controller is not limited to the Japanese market. The device - dubbed "Pokken Tournament Pro Pad" has a listing on Amazon and therfore will be available for U.S. gamers.
Nintendo's "Pokken Tournament" is scheduled for release on March 18 in Japan and around the second quarter of 2016 in the U.S. However, the Amazon listing indicates that it will be out on March 18 in the US, meaning that the controller could release on the same day as the game.
In Japan, the controller bundle sells for about 36,000 yen and comes with a 32 GB Black Wii U Premium Set, a digital copy of the game, a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, and a special Battle Pokemon Action List booklet, which lists all of the character's fighting moves. Geek estimates that the game alone could cost $60, and a bundle with Nintendo's "Pokken Tournament Pro Pad" could set gamers back about $85.
Nintendo's "Pokken Tournament" Wii U controller can currently be pre-ordered in Amazon for $24.99.
