A Lannister From 'Game Of Thrones' Will Play The Main Villain In 'Ghostbusters' Reboot
"Game of Thrones" alum Charles Dance has been confirmed to appear as the main villain in Sony's "Ghostbusters" reboot.
Details of Dance's role is being kept under wraps, although Design & Trend confirmed that the 69-year-old Briton will indeed appear as the "Ghostbusters" reboot's villain. Dance is best known for his role as Tywin Lannister on HBO's "Game of Thrones" and the head vampire in 2014's "Dracula Untold." He will again portray a vampire in the upcoming "Underworld 5" movie this year.
Additionally, Entertainment Weekly published new information about what kind of villains the Ghostbusters will face in the reboot.
"Dead criminals from all eras of New York's underbelly past have returned to roost among the living in Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot," reads an excerpt from the site's article. "Pilgrims, old-timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters are ready to take on four formidable female busters looking to rid the city of its phantasmic filth."
The "Ghostbusters" reboot stars Kristin Wiig as Erin GIlbert ("Bridesmaids," "The Skeleton Twins"), Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates ("Spy," "The Heat"), Leslie Jones Patty Tolan ("Christmas In Compton"), and Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman ("Staten Island Summer").
The supporting cast also includes Chris Hemsworth ("Avengers: Age of Ultron") as the team's new secretary, Andy Garcia ("Smokin' Aces") as New York City's mayor, Matt Walsh ("Into The Storm") as Rourke, Michael K. Williams ("Boardwalk Empire") as Hawkins, and TV host Pat Kiernan ("Night at the Museum") as himself. Original series actors Dan Akyroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts have all been confirmed to have cameo appearances in the film.
The remake is directed by Paul Feig, from a script he co-wrote with Katie Dippold, and produced by 80s "Ghostbusters" director Ivan Reitman and Dan Akyroyd.
Sony's "Ghostbusters" reboot premieres on July 16.
