'Outlander' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers & More: Set Designer Shares Hardship In Perfecting Show
Author Diana Gabaldon previously admitted that "Outlander" season 2 air date may be delayed because of the location change and their goal to make the set look more believable.
It is not just in the location department where the Starz TV series is being meticulous as they are also very keen even in the smallest details that characters wear. So when "Outlander" season 2 air date arrives, everyone can expect a quality TV that stays true to what was told in history.
Costume designer Terry Dresbach says her team are being picky when it comes to silk and other details that Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan), and the new characters will wear. The harder part of the show is the fact that the second season is much bigger than the first, with the introduction of royal people from France that has been long admired for its sophisticated fashion.
"It's a massive season. We figured out recently that we've made over 10,000 items for season 2 and acquired another 5,000 shoes," Dresbach told Entertainment Weekly. "Knowing that was in front of us ... it was a monumental task. We started thinking about it halfway through season 1."
Dresbach also went on to differentiate the Scotland and France setting.
"It's a completely different kind of clothing," she said. "In Scotland, there is not a ton of research out there about what they wore. It was a rough place. But France [in the 18th century] was one of the most well-documented periods of fashion in the world, so you better get it right. There is no wiggle room."
She added, "Everything has to be sumptuous and lavish and every inch is beaded and embroidered. This is why I came back into the business to do this show. Getting to do 18th century French court is a designer's dream. It's fabulous."
"Outlander" season 2 is based in the second book of the novel series by Gabaldon entitled Dragonfly in Amber. In this chapter, the Scotland couple embark on a journey to France where they will meet people of high stature.
Jamie, who is just few weeks removed from the ordeal he suffered from Jack Black, will use the trip and stay in France to take his mind away from his painful past. Also, he and pregnant wife Claire will face challenges on their married life while he fulfills his political mission, Blastr noted.
Executive producer Ronald Moore previously shared to Scotland Now that "Outlander" season 2 air date will be around March or April this year.
