Natalie Cole Dies At 65; Stars Pay Tribute To The 'Unforgettable' Singer

Legendary singer Natalie Cole died on Thursday at 65.

Grammy award winner Natalie Cole, who rose to fame after her virtual duet "Unforgettable" with her dad, pop music legend Nat King Cole, passed away on Thursday night at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

"It is with heavy hearts that we bring to you all the news of our Mother and sister's passing," the Cole family statement said, according to Reuters. "Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived - with dignity, strength and honor. Our beloved Mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our hearts forever."

Natalie Cole, who has had a kidney transplant and was diagnosed of Hepatitis C back in 2008, reportedly died from congestive heart failure. She is also believed to have struggled with drug and alcohol issues in the past, The Jerusalem Post said.

Cole's album, "Unforgettable...With Love," which featured vocals from her late father's album "Unforgettable" was released in 1991. The massive hit album sold over 14 million copies as well as fetched the singer 6 Grammy Awards. Cole's father, the iconic pop singer, suffered from lung cancer and passed away in 1965.

Other remarkable albums of Cole include "Our Love" and This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).

Obituaries poured in social media as soon as the Cole family made an announcement on Natalie Cole's death.

"R I P Natalie Cole one of the greatest sweetest most talented people I have ever met. thank u for all u gave us," Randy Jackson wrote on Twitter..

Meanwhile, supermodel Gigi Hadid tweeted of her sorrow over Natalie Cole's death and noted that she was a "true legend & a beautiful spirit."

"More like family than friend was Natalie," said Dionne Warwick in a statement to ET.

"My heart aches. My sincere condolences to her family and may she now rest in peace," she added.
