Super Hero Hype reported that the movie also used a limited event-style release strategy as a part of promotional activities.
The theaters showcased a special 15-minute "Dragon Ball Z" themed show before the start of the movie, so as to set the mood of the audience and introduce them to the characters of the film.
This strategy paid off very well for FUNimation Films, as the movie collected around $1.97 million at the box office.
Michael DuBoise, the Chief Operating Officer of FUNimation said that the new strategy provided a pleasant experience for all the fans of the movie.
"We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive fan response to the movie," said Michael, reported PR News Wire.
