Is Peter Capaldi Planning To Quit 'Doctor Who' Season 10 In 2016?

"Doctor Who" season 10 fans need to check out replacements for the current star of the popular series from BBC.

Peter Capaldi, who plays the 12th Doctor in current series announced that "Doctor Who" season 10 will be his final season and he will be quitting the show thereafter.

The show ends in 2016 and Peter Capaldi will be out scouting for new roles and projects. He had replaced Matt Smith earlier in 2013 and has been starring in the series since last two seasons.

Last two Christmas special episodes were especially garnered towards Peter Capaldi but this year's "Doctor Who" season 10 Christmas Special episode seems to be his last one, stated Music Times.

"This could be my final year," he told The Telegraph.

"I love 'Doctor Who' but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things. There will come a time when this is over. But I knew that when I started. I was thinking about my regeneration scene from the outset. That's my terrible melancholic nature. When you accept the job you know there'll come a day, inevitably, when you'll be saying goodbye."

The news does not come as a surprise as his predecessors had also cited the same reason for quitting the show and now the upcoming season of "Doctor Who" is expected to star a new actor, whom has not been revealed.

Matt Smith also echoed similar sentiments before he left the show in 2013 and Peter Capaldi replaced him.

The next season is slated to be nearly one and half year from now, which means viewers will have to wait long and there is ample time with the producers to look for the new star cast of "Doctor Who."
