The third season of the action drama anime "Tokyo Ghoul" is rumored to be heading towards a remake version of the original series, according to Crossmap.

The President of FUNimation Entertainment recently hinted that the release date of the third season for the anime series is on its way in the upcoming year, 2016.

In line with the release date news, some of the Reddit users also claimed that the creator of "Tokyo Ghoul: Re," Sui Ishida wanted to give a new angle to the series. He wanted that the anime should end with the lead characters, Kaneki and Hide die together burning.

The earlier season of the anime did have a similar scene, where Kaneki and Hide were caught in the fire, but was not actually shot how Ishida wanted it. Because of that, there's a possibility for a remake of the whole series.

The Inquisitr reported that the earlier season witnessed Kaneki throwing himself off the roof in an attempt to die. It is rumored that Kaneki did this in order to avoid killing Shuu, thus depicting his other side of the character which is not a cold blooded murderer.

The speculations suggest that such sudden transition from Kaneki indicates a new turn in the events of the series, again possibly heading towards a reboot of "Tokyo Ghoul." But the publisher of the animated series, Studio Pierrot has not yet confirmed anything.

It is rumored that the storyline for the third season will be compiled from the earlier installment of anime series "Tokyo Ghoul: Re."

The rumors also suggest that the third season of the anime series will feature Haise Sasaki and a group of CCG investigators.

These investigators will be shown as half-ghouls and capable of using ghoul weapons to attack the antagonists, reported Yibada.

If everything goes as planned, the earlier rumors may come true and "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 release date will most likely happen in 2016.
