A South Korean version of American legal drama series "The Good Wife" is expected to hit a local cable network next year as an entertainment and media contents company confirmed it will remake the popular television series.

Korea Joongang Daily reported Monday that the South Korean version of "The Good Wife" is slated to be aired on tvN some time in 2016, as per the broadcaster.

Although there have been no reports on the casting of the South Korean version of the drama series, award-winning actress Jeon Do Yeon is reportedly assessing the script.

Koogle.tv reported Dec. 22 that CJ E&M confirmed they will produce the South Korean version of the American series.

"We are confirmed to produce a remake of American CBS drama 'The Good Wife.' We plan to air it through cable TV channel tvN in 2016," the company said.

Reports revealed that Director Lee Jung Hyo will lead the production, while Han Sang Woon will be the scriptwriter of the remake.

Lee is known for directing "Because It's The First Time," "Witch's Romance," "Cruel City," "I Need Romance," "Seoul Murim Jeon" and "Auction House."

On the other hand, Han is known for "My Ordinary Love Story" and drama series "Spy."

Producer Cho Moon Ju revealed he decided to take on the South Korean version of "The Good Wife" because of the main character's mental growth.

The American legal and political drama series premiered on CBS on September 22, 2009. "The Good Wife" features stars like Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, Matt Czuchry and Alan Cumming. It also features Chris Noth in his recurring character.

"The Good Wife" revolves around the life of a woman, played by Margulies, who returned to her initial job as a litigator after her husband got involved in sex and political corruption scandals.

The legal drama series and its cast have received a number of awards including Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, Critics' Choice Television Award, TCA Award for Individual Achievement in Drama and a lot more.

"The Good Wife" is currently on its seventh season, which started last October 4.
