Oculus Rift Pre-Order Starts In 2016; 'Insanely Cheap' Price Announced?
Palmer Luckey, founder and inventor of Oculus Rift announced that the device will be ready for pre-order in 2016.
He shared the news through twitter and said, "Preorders are coming soon after New Year," according to Vine Report. "Enjoy a stress-free holiday, we won't launch preorders without warning," the message continued.
The company aimed to deliver an inexpensive quality product for users and in order to provide an "immersive gaming" experience. The Oculus Rift pre-order device was reported to be available for Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5.
In September, the company made an announcement during the Oculus Connect 2 developer conference that their own headset was under development and was already on its testing phase.
Oculus Hardware Project Manager, Stephanie Lue said that, "We set a date out for ourselves for when we wanted to build the first product and we hit that date on the nose," according to Road to VR.
"Our hardware teams are pouring our hearts and souls to get it just right for the experience and for manufacturability so that we can get this out to as many people as possible. It's definitely worth the wait," Lue's statement continued.
It was also reported that once the Oculus Rift pre-order starts in 2016, a free "Eve: Valkyrie" game will be included with the product. The device will allegedly cost over $350 however, the company hasn't released any further details as a confirmation, according to WPTV.com.
Luckey said that the device will cost "insanely cheap" considering it specifications including "multiple high-end OLED monitors+motion tracking+fancy mechanicals in one device," he said in a statement, according to Vine Report.
It was suggested that gamers planning to buy one should have a computer that has over 8GB RAM, at least R9 290 or GTX 970 for graphics and Intel Core i5 4690 processor.
