Travis Scott Guilty In Lollapalooza Stampede Charges; Rapper To Open 'ANTI?'
Rapper Travis Scott plead guilty to reckless conduct charges after being accused of inciting a stampede at Lollapalooza, in Chicago, according to USA Today.
Scott, whose real name is Jaques Webster allegedly encouraged fans during the concert to climb over barricades during his set. A 15-year old girl was trampled, revealed Billboard.
The incident was caught on tape and the Houston rapper could be seen telling fans to go over the barricades and to move closer to the stage. He also told security, whom he referred to as "everyone in a green shirt," to get out of the way.
Dozens of fans leapt onstage but the organizers threatened to end the performance if the stage was not cleared and the music was quickly cut.
"I wanna finish performing," Travis Scott told fans. "We can start over, everybody just get down."
The Lollapalooza concert was shut down at that point and Travis Scott allegedly quickly left the scene but was arrested by Chicago police soon after.
A judge ordered Scott to be under court supervision for one year. The rapper's set at Lollapalooza only lasted five minutes before it ended in disorder.
The stampede incident is nothing compared to a big year for the rapper. In September, Scott released his debut LP, "Rodeo." The album has appearances from music's heavyweights, which include 2 Chainz, Juicy J, The Weeknd, Future 2, and Justin Bieber. Not to mention production by Metro Boomin, Pharrell and Mike Dean, shared Rolling Stone.
His single, "Antidote" has gone platinum as well, selling over a million copies.
Kanye West was also part of production and he also provided a verse on "Piss on Your Grave." He appeared alongside the rapper in the song's creepy video.
Travis Scott is scheduled to open for Rihanna throughout her "Anti" world tour in North America, which begins in San Diego, on Feb.26.
