‘The Revenant’ 2015 Movie Gears Leonardo DiCaprio For An Academy Nomination; Premiere Released!
Fans and movie-goers alike were appeased to hear that the much awaited movie by Oscar-winner Alejandro G. Iñarritu "The Revenant", released this 2015, has initially received positive reviews and rumored have spread that film might be Leonardo DiCaprio's Oscar-winning bet, according to sources.
The 2015 movie "The Revenant" has depicted itself on its released trailers as a story of revenge, but according to film-director and Oscar-winner Alejandro G. Iñarritu and screen-writer Mark L. Smith, the film is actually about a "spiritual journey," as reported by the Screen Crush.
The latest film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, "The Revenant," was based on the novel "The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge," by author Michael Punke that tells the real life experience of frontier fur trapper Hugh Glass, who was left for dead by a couple of his colleagues following a traumatic bear attack, as stated by the source.
The movie "The Revenant," which is set to be officially released in theaters on Jan. 8, 2016, underwent 10 to 12 drafts by screenwriter Smith before the director came in the picture who added to depict Leonardo DiCaprio with a son, according to the source.
"Glass' journey was less about revenge, more about getting his rifle back - which is almost like his son," the screenwriter said, courtesy of Slash Film.
"It was almost a kidnapping story at that point. I didn't like the revenge thing, so I didn't go that route," Smith added. "Then Alejandro came in and added the son, because he thought it could be really powerful, and the idea because of he's half-Native American the racism angle could come in and you could come in and you could show the cultures and how they blended together."
He stated, "We both felt revenge was empty - a goal without a reward."
Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars as the main protagonist in the film "The Revenant," was speculated that his latest film could finally win him the elusive Oscar award, despite a lot of people not wanting him to win it for the fear of risk that the actor might stop producing such talented performances, as stated by Forbes.
