NBA Rumors Gear Up As Trade Restrictions Are Lifted; Boston Celtics In Need Of A 'Scorer?'

As NBA trade rumors gear up and trade restrictions have been lifted, the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics are among teams that have interest in DeMarcus Cousins, according to HNGN.

The course may possibly change but the Sacramento Kings have said that DeMarcus will not be traded. In the Western Conference, the Kings are on 10-12, which makes the team twelfth right now but their chances of winning seems slim this year.

The Celtics have a young team and a lot of talent. This surprised a lot of people when they made the playoffs last year and this season they came in with high expectations.

It was not a good start this season and fans are wondering whether the team needs a star player to take them to the next level. With turmoil surrounding the Kings, rumors have it that Celtics are making a play for Cousins, said Chris Forsberg of ESPN.

Meanwhile, though there are no solid rumors that surround the team, President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics, Danny Ainge knows what he's looking for and that's a "scorer."

"I think the one thing that we could really use is a go-to scorer," said Ainge. "We have some guys that have carried us, but it would be nice to find another player that's a reliable scorer at the end of games, night in and night out."

During Wednesday's loss to the Detroit Pistons, Thomas scored 39 points. Since arriving in Boston, he has been one of the league's best scorers in the fourth quarter but the team could clearly use another option.

Now that the NBA trade season has unofficially opened Dec. 15, most of the activity won't happen until February's trade deadline.

In his weekly appearance on Boston's sports radio 98.5, the "SportsHub," Ainge respectfully declined to comment on players from other teams. He was also asked if he would be wary of adding "disruptive" players to a locker room.

"I think (disruptive personalities are) a problem in any locker room," Ainge told the "Toucher and Rich" program. "First of all, we have good character on our team right now and we have some mature kids. I don't think it's ever a good idea to have players that are disruptive to your team, on the court and off the court."

Ainge also added that the position of the go-to scorer did not matter. "Ideally, it'd be a big man, but it doesn't have to be," added Ainge.

On the other hand, reports of the Memphis Grizzlies on the verge of blowing up have been circulating and the Boston Celtics are known to keep a close eye on these situations. If a team disintegrates, they will be ready to swoop in with an offer to the assets, reported Yibada.
