Recent news clarified that the couple behind the San Bernardino shooting discussed their interest in jihad through private messages, which further explained the official's initial reports as it was previously stated, and that Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were recently buried in a small funeral, according to sources.

Initially, the San Bernardino shooter Tashfeen Malik was reported to have sent at least two private correspondences via Facebook to a small group of friends from Pakistan back in 2012 and 2014, where she pledged her support for Islamic Jihad and hoped to participate in the terrorism one day, according to the LA Times.

The latest finding in investigations further expounded this when FBI Director James Comey stated that the terrorists behind the San Bernardino shooting communicated through "direct private messages" and there is "no evidence of posting on social media", as stated by Fox News.

Comey said that the investigation showed "no indication of direct contact with a foreign terrorist organization," and that Tashfeen Malik and her husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, were already radicalized before the emergence of the Islamic State, which is the global leader of violent extremism, as reported by the Boston Globe.

"In San Bernardino, as I've said before, we see in the killers, Malik and Farook, two people who were radicalized before the emergence of ISIL," the FBI Director said at a Police Headquarters in Lower Manhattan, courtesy of the source.

"And so untangling the motivations of which particular terrorist propaganda motivated in what way remains a challenge in these investigations, and our work is ongoing there," he added.

In addition, the Muslim couple who killed 14 people in the San Bernardino shooting that transpired at the Inland Regional Center was reportedly to have been buried this Tuesday at a small funeral guarded by FBI agents, according to Fox News.

The small funeral took place at a Muslim cemetery a few hours away from San Bernardino, which was attended by around 10 people, including those of Farook's family and people who used to pray with the couple at mosques, as stated by the source.
