Howard Stern Renews Contract With SiriusXM; Video Streaming App In The Works?
Howard Stern ended rumors about him leaving SiriusXM with a newly signed five-year contract for the broadcasting company that was announced on Tuesday.
He will be hosting "The Howard Stern Show" for his five-year extension. The deal includes a development of a video streaming platform that will feature a wide range of his recorded visuals and audio library.
Howard Stern's previous contract with SiriusXM will expire on Wednesday. Although, other details were not released, the Bank of America analyst Jessica Reif Cohen said that salary will be increased from $80 to $90 million annually for the new agreement.
The host said, "I happen to think that its best days are ahead," according to Bloomberg.
"So, if you are not listening to SiriusXM and The Howard Stern Show, then you are really more like a zombie, a rotting corpse monster, living half a life, deadened and blackened inside," he added.
He'll be continuing his four hour long live broadcast scheduled every morning that can be replayed online. His shares also increased by three percent to $4.12 with 19 million sold stocks, according to USA Today.
The new contract will be included in a 12-year deal that was agreed by the radio host's production team and the broadcasting company. A source revealed that, "It's strictly money," according to New York Daily News.
"He wasn't finished yet, so there are five more years of amazing radio to come," said his wife in a statement.
The company is currently being managed by Liberty Media and John Malone. It was not popular when the host debuted in 2006 however, they collaborated with XM and gained them 29 million subscribers as of the moment.
The host said in a statement that, "The joy we are going to bring you in the very near future will make you feel like Christmas is every day," the host said in a statement.
"Ho, Ho, Howard...out," he further added, according to New York Daily News.
