The "Star Trek Beyond" trailer was officially released on Monday that looked like a simultaneous rejection and embrace of previous sci-fi director, J.J. Abrams', mark on the franchise, as reported by The Atlantic.
It is of no surprise that the trailer for the third installment of the franchise, "Star Trek Beyond", was scored by Beastie Boys' single, "Sabotage", which was previously used for the franchise's first installment, "Star Trek", as stated by the NY Daily News.
Regardless of well-known director Abrams' departure from the franchise, "Star Trek Beyond" soldiers on with the initial star-studded cast he assembled (that also included Simon Pegg, John Cho, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin) with the inclusion of the franchise's new director, Justin Lin, who widely known as directing most of the "Fast & Furious" series, as stated by The Atlantic.
The "Star Trek Beyond" trailer indicated that it will be featured in a higher-octane action-adventure mood, which also hinted on the movie's plot, according to Uproxx.
The trailer suggested that most of the action in the plot might not take place on the ship, due to the fact that the ship, Enterprise, get obliterated and destroyed, as stated by the source.
Moreover, it was speculated that the plot may take place on an unidentified and hostile planet, which could've have been inhabited before as indicated by a vintage motorcycle, as reported by EW.
Lastly, fans of the franchise got to see a presumably new "ally", as characterized through a female-rogue alien (played by Sofia Boutella), as stated by the source.
The "Star Trek Beyond" trailer evidences that it may well have had the biggest budget of any movie shot in Dubai with $32 million to cover the cost of its production in the emirate, as stated by the Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission, Jamal Al Sharif, courtesy of Arabian Business.
"This is somewhere around $32 million, plus soft incenteives," he said, according to the source. "This is just the Dubai budget. The main budget is over $200 million, I believe," he added.
"Star Trek Beyond" can be expected to hit the theaters on July 22, 2016.
