Fans of the world's largest Japan-based video game company by revenue, Nintendo, will be delighted to find out a Nintendo NX controller patent sneak peek, which was recently posted online, for its upcoming console, "NX", according to sources.

People claimed to be working on behalf of Nintendo have registered and filed for a patent of a quirky-looking, free-form game controller that may or may not have ties to the company's covert upcoming console, which goes by the codename "NX", as reported by Gamespot.

The application for the patent was just filed this June of 2015 and was recently published online today that may give the fans a Nintendo NX patent controller sneak peek for the company's upcoming console, courtesy of Free Patents Online via NeoGaf.

The company's name was not indicated on the document; however, the so called inventors are five Nintendo employees, according to Gamespot.

The device's specifications and functions were also explained by the so called inventors, which would also give fans a sneak peek on how the Nintendo NX controller patent will supposedly work, courtesy of Destructiod.

"A non-limiting example information processing apparatus comprises a housing, and a first portion of the housing is formed in an elliptical form when viewing from the front," it stated.

It was also detailed that there would be a display and touch panel that would make up the main surface of the device. There would also be holes formed on both the left and right end portions of the panel and two operation sticks would be placed through those holes, as further stated in its patent.

Although the patent filings are neither final nor binding since it could change over time and that there is nothing in it that directly connects the controller to the "NX", the discovery of the patent could follow suit to a recent report that claimed technology powerhouse, Sharp, was supplying Nintendo with its new line of free-form LCDs that can be bent and formed into many shapes, as reported by Gamespot.
