Bethesda Gaming Studios Opens New Office In Montreal; Company Is Hiring!
Bethesda Gaming Studios is opening a new office in Montreal, Quebec, according to IGN.
The studio is an American in-house development team at Bethesda Softworks. It was established in the year 2002. The studio's name and logo were established when the game "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind" was launched last 2002. Todd Howard is the current executive producer and leader of the studio.
Bethesda Gaming Studios opened up a new office in Montreal to expand the studio's current development capabilities. They wanted to expand the "console, PC and mobile gaming" areas, according to sources.
The studio already has a core team of more than 40 developers from both the console and mobile development areas, according to PlayStationLifeStyle.net. The new studio in Montreal will be managed by Yves Lachance. Lachance was formerly from Behaviour Interactive that helped develop "Fallout Shelter."
"We've worked with some very talented developers in Montreal for a long time, and decided it was time to open a studio there," said Howard. "It's exciting to think about the new games we'll be building together."
"Fallout Shelter" was the studio's first time to try out mobile gaming and it was free-to-play in the iOS and Android mobile platforms, according to Polygon. It became popular quickly due to that. Lachance is excited to work with the studio.
"Our collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios has been an exhilarating and memorable journey already," said Lachance. "We are thrilled to be launching the studio in Montreal and contributing our city's great game-making talent to the kind of games that Bethesda Game Studios is known for."
Bethesda Gaming Studios is also offering a lot of job openings for the Montreal branch, according to sources. Game sites speculate that the Montreal studio is working on a co-developed RPG. Currently, the studio is looking for an Engine Programmer and a Senior VFX Artist with a requirement of at least one ublished game.
