Fans were elated to find out that the legendary game series "System Shock" is finally getting a sequel with "System Shock 3" being confirmed by Otherside Entertainment, according to sources.

"System Shock" is a first-person shooter with elements of role playing that was initially launched in 1994 and originally designed by Looking Glass, which included Ken Levine (who went on to make the acclaimed "BioShock" series), as reported by Gamespot.

"System Shock" and its sequel "System Shock 2" were highly influential, especially since the game became the schematic for the more widely popular game, "BioShock", as noted by The Verge.

The original game also came back with a new and enhanced version for PC, "System Shock: Enhanced Edition", thanks to restoration company Night Dive Studios, as stated by Gamespot.

Recent news has revealed that fans of the game can expect a new sequel to the game. Otherside Entertainment, where most of it staff worked for Looking Glass Studios that originally developed the game, has recently released a countdown that was decoded by fans to point to a teaser for a sequel to the new game, "System Shock 3", according to Engadget.

However, some of the other notable names that worked on the original game, such as Douch Church, Ken Levine and Warren Spector, are not currently affliated with Otherside Entertainment, as stated by the source.

Otherside Entertainment is also currently working on a sequel called "Underworld Ascendant" from another Looking Glass Studio title, "Ultima Underworld", that is crowdfunded; fans could expect that the same will be done for the sequel of "System Shock 3", courtesy of PC Gamer.

Otherside Entertainment had to resort to crowdfunding for "Underworld Ascendant", which has been able to raise around $850,000 on Kickstarter, as reported by Gospel Herald.

However, an obstacle that the developers could come across to is that it would cost much more than that to be able to fund a big-budget sequel such as "System Shock 3", according to the source.
