Yahoo's Flickr will be collaborating with Samsung's Gear VR to create Flickr Virtual Reality!

Yahoo has released a statement that they are incorporating the experience of virtual reality to their photo storage Flickr through Samsung's Gear VR, according to sources.

Yahoo is widely known for their online search engine, however, they have also dabbled into a number of other products and services that spans through multiple media platforms, such as their photo storage Flickr, which already has apps that are available on Android, other mobile platform device and web interface for desktop users, as reported by Android Headlines.

Recent news has reported that Yahoo has announced that they are bringing the Flickr experience to virtual reality users via the virtual reality headset developed by Samsung, which would allow the experience of a full 360 degree immersion within the most popular Flickr photos in the most imaginable way possible, as stated by the source.

The headset involves inserting a Samsung Galaxy smartphone into the device: the headset relies on the smartphone's sceen for visuals and its processor to run the apps and games, as reported by the NY Times.

It is a predecessor to the more dominant Oculus Rift, another virtual reality headset that is connected to a personal computer instead, as stated by the source.

Unlike other virtual reality headsets, such as the Rift or Vive by HTC, the Gear VR does not restrict its users with a multitude of wires nor would it require them a bulky external computer, courtesy of The Verge.

Virtual reality and the technology that comes with it is unendingly on the brink of being set for the mainstream, and the user headset Gear VR feels dead-on on that verge, as noted by the source.

As such, Flickr is finally joining the vast array of growing content for the Gear VR and it opens up the possibilities for the technology to become compatible to different applications that can give the same kind of experience, as stated by Android Headlines.
