Google Chrome Android Browser Update: Data Saving Mode To Rival Opera Max?

Google recently announced a new update for its browser on Android platform to use lesser data consumption.

Google Chrome Android browser update includes a Data Saver mode to reduce data consumption up to 70 percent every time a user visits a webpage, which was previously company 50 percent data reduction.

The Google Chrome Android browser update get rids off most of the images from a website when it is running on a slow connection, by this a user can save their data usage and it will load faster. The images can be displayed by a single tap once it was loaded successfully, according to Tech Times.

By using the new, Google Chrome Android browser update it will give users an option on what images they want to display in a web page. The update's Data Saver mode was first revealed in through a beta version in March 2013 of Google Chrome app in Android platform and was later introduced to iOS, according to Tech Crunch.

The process of reducing the data usage is through Google's proxy server into their PageSpeed libraries for web page content optimization.

Google hasn't released any information about the roll out date of their Android browser update and if it will be available for their iOS app, according to CNET.

India and Indonesia will be the first countries to experience the Data Saver mode of Google Chrome as of the moment. Product Manager and Speedy Saver, Tal Oppenheimer said, "Just flip on Data Saver mode in your Chrome app on Android devices to get rolling!," product manager and Speedy Saver, Tal Oppenheimer said, according to Google Chrome Blog.

More countries are expected to have their hands on the Google Chrome Android browser update soon however, it seems that the company is not the only one to release a data reducing feature in India.

Opera has already set a deal with Acer, Samsung, Xiaomi and more to pre install their own data saving app,  Opera Max in India. Data reducing features is a big thing in India and Indonesia since they only have 2G like speed internet connection.
