ENHYPEN Returns from Coachella with Record-Breaking Album 'DESIRE : UNLEASH'

K-pop group celebrates successful festival debut and achieves new sales milestone with sixth mini-album
SEOUL, South Korea - Fresh from their historic Coachella debut, K-pop group ENHYPEN attended the "Evening of 'DESIRE : UNLEASH'" media event on June 7th at Bunker in Yeouido, Seoul, celebrating their sixth mini-album release alongside Spotify.
'DESIRE : UNLEASH,' released June 5th, sold 1,890,677 copies on its first day, surpassing ENHYPEN's previous record of 1,883,143 copies set by 'ROMANCE : UNTOLD.' Two-day sales reached 1,932,792 copies.
The album topped iTunes charts in over 20 regions and secured #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Albums Chart. It was also featured on Spotify's weekly Global Top 10 Countdown Pages before release.
ENHYPEN became the fastest K-pop boy band to perform at Coachella since their debut, with performances on April 12 and 19 at the Sahara Stage. Member Sunghoon explained the challenging preparation: "The Coachella preparation period overlapped with this album. We actually finished this album first and then went into Coachella rehearsals."
During their Coachella set, the group surprised fans by announcing the album's June 5th release date.
'DESIRE : UNLEASH' evolves from ENHYPEN's previous 'ROMANCE' series, exploring darker emotions through what they describe as "ENHYPEN's signature dark romance."
The title track "Bad Desire (With or Without You)" expresses their "dominant desire to 'make you a vampire,'" featuring paradoxical lyrics that convey their willingness to cross boundaries. Heeseung noted the smooth recording process: "This recording session was completed really quickly. The designated lines were so beautiful that we worked on it very joyfully."
Member Jay produced the B-side track "Helium," a pop-rock song gaining international attention. "I wrote this song with the intention of conveying an overwhelming feeling to ENGENEs," Jay explained.
Building on their previous Billboard 200 #2 peak with 'ROMANCE : UNTOLD', ENHYPEN aims higher. Jake stated boldly: "Since we reached #2 on the Billboard 200 last time, we'd like to try for #1 this time."
In 2024, they sold 5.45 million albums cumulatively and achieved their first "triple million-seller" status.
Following Coachella, ENHYPEN will embark on an extensive world tour including stadium shows at Tokyo's Ajinomoto Stadium (July 5-6) and Osaka's Yanmar Stadium Nagai (August 2-3). Jake expressed excitement: "We have tours scheduled in Japan, the US, and Europe. The European tour is our first."
ENHYPEN previously set records by performing at Tokyo Dome just 2 years and 10 months after debut, the shortest time for any K-pop boy group.
After a seven-month gap between releases, leader Jungwon thanked fans: "I want to say thank you to the fans who waited for us. ENGENEs are showing incredible enthusiasm. Their energy and support feel even greater than before."
Looking ahead, Heeseung revealed future plans: "There are still many things ENHYPEN hasn't tried yet. Our goal is to try new things," hinting at potential Latin music exploration.
The 'Maison ENHYPEN' popup runs until June 14th in Seoul, with additional installations in Tokyo (June 7-10) and Jakarta (June 12-16).
