The converter functions as a backward compatibility for headphones made for 3.5mm audio jack however, a user would need a 3.5mm lightning adapter to utilize it.

The iPhone 7 was rumored to be 1mm thin, which a 3.5mm headphone jack might be unable to fit. The headphones lightning connector technology has caught the interest of Apple during the Worldwide Developers Conference in 2014, according to Tech Insider.
