Instagram Multiple Accounts Android Version In Development? Third Party Apps Restricted?
Instagram will soon release a feature that will allow users access multiple accounts without having to log-out.
A new feature for Instagram's Android version will allow users to access to multiple accounts at once. This feature will soon be implemented in the 7.12.0 version update of the mobile app, which the company first announced in January.
Instagram's multiple accounts access will benefit small businessmen who use Instagram as their medium as well as social media managers. This option will only be applicable for the app's Android version, according to Android Police.
Few of Instagram's Android beta testers noticed a new option that allows them to add other accounts, which can be switched from one to another. The beta testers explored the new option by going to "Settings" then, in between "Clear History" and "Log Out," users can see the option, "Add Account."
Users can add a new account or create a new one with a username and password or even with a Facebook account verification. Once the account has been added, users can switch accounts using a drop down button on their username in the profile page. After the user switched accounts, a green pop-up notification will appear as a confirmation that a user have successfully done it, according to Tech Crunch.
Instagram users have been looking forward to this new feature especially those who are in the business industry. However, this will only be available for the Android platform for their current testing phase. Instagram hasn't released a statement about expanding the option to iOS platform.
The multiple account switching feature has been around with the use of third party applications that allows Instagram users to switch one account to another for posting their feeds.
Instagram allowed third party app developers until the company started to change and restrict their developer policy. The new policy will be implemented in June 2016, which will restrict any third-party access on Instagram, according to Mashable.
