Multinational retail corporation Walmart is expanding its direct-to-fridge delivery service, InHome.

Walmart is making huge steps this new year as it expands the availability of its InHome delivery services to 30 million households across the United States by the end of the year.

The retail giant's InHome delivery service allows convenience to customers, especially during these difficult times.

In a statement to CNBC, Walmart's senior vice president of last-mile delivery Tom Ward shared that InHome offers customers the ultimate convenience of having their groceries and other items delivered even when they're not at home as the whole process is recorded and can be viewed live through the Walmart app.

Walmart also assures customers that the whole InHome delivery service is safe and secure as the company's delivery personnel is wearing cameras and is instructed to follow health protocols from start to finish.

InHome will also allow Walmart employees to pick up returns straight from customers' homes.

Meanwhile, to support its InHome delivery services expansion, Walmart announced it will be hiring 3,000 new employees.

Moreover, according to reports, these new hires will receive a payment that is 9% more than the average wage at Walmart which is $16.40 per hour.

Additionally, InHome delivery drivers will also be driving electric vehicles as part of Walmart's push for sustainability and a step to their 2040 goal of having zero-emissions logistics operations.

On the other hand, Walmart's 3,700 stores will be used as fulfillment centers for the whole InHome delivery services.

Walmart's InHome delivery service was initially launched in 2019. The pilot locations for Walmart's InHome delivery service include Kansas City in Missouri, Pittsburgh City in Pennsylvania, and Vero Beach in Florida.

Since then, Walmart's InHome delivery services have expanded in Northwest Arkansas, Atlanta, Washington, D.C, and Phoenix.
