Originally, Megan Thee Stallion was scheduled to appear at the "2021 American Music Awards" (AMA), which will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, USA on the morning of the 22nd. It was previously reported that she was going to sing the remix version of "Butter" with BTS; however, due to personal reasons, the collab performance was canceled.
As a result, BTS is expected to only perform with the British band Coldplay composed of Chris Martin, Will Champion, Guy Berryman, and Johnny Buckland. BTS and Coldplay will perform their collaboration single "My Universe," which was released on September 24.
Immediately after its release, the song topped the US Billboard's main singles chart "Hot 100," as well as the Billboard "Global 200" chart, Billboard Global Chart (excluding the US), and the Digital Song Sales chart. As this is the first time to hear the world-class collaboration song live, the interest and expectations of music fans around the world for AMA have reached a peak.
BTS was nominated for AMA for four consecutive years from 2018 to this year. This year, the superstar K-Pop boy group is nominated in three different categories "Artist of the Year," "Favorite Pop Duo or Group," and "Favorite Pop Song."
The 2021 AMA will be broadcast live on American TV channel ABC. In Korea, it is transmitted through Watcha.
