Uaenas Relieved As IU Tests Negative For COVID-19
On November 8, IU attended the wedding of singer Lee Ji Hoon and his wife Ayane. During the event, IU sang the congratulatory song for the newlywed.
However, fans were worried after reports confirmed that there was a confirmed case of COVID-19 among the guests who attended the wedding.
IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, released a statement explaining the series of events concerning the singer.
"We were informed that there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the wedding that IU attended. During the event, IU was wearing a mask and sang the congratulatory song while wearing it. IU immediately left the scene after the congratulatory song, so there was no contact between her and the confirmed case," EDAM Entertainment explained.
EDAM Entertainment then announced that as a preemptive response, IU and her staff underwent PCR testing for COVID-19. Fortunately, IU and her staff tested negative for the virus.
"As a preemptive response, we conducted PCR (gene amplification) tests with IU and all of the staff at the site, and as a result of the tests, all of the staff including IU were negative," EDAM Entertainment shared.
EDAM Entertainment also assures fans that they will continue to work on ensuring the health and safety of their artists.
"We will continue to do our best for the health and safety of the artist by complying with the quarantine guidelines of the health authorities," EDAM Entertainment stated.
Meanwhile, Singer Lim Chang Jung who also sang a congratulatory song at the wedding tested positive on November 9 after undergoing a PCR test for a broadcast recording. Musical actor Son Jun Ho who also staged a performance in the celebration tested negative for the virus.
IU recently made a successful comeback with "Strawberry Moon." The song achieved a perfect all-kill on the charts and became her third song to achieve such status this year.
