August was a fun ride. Red Velvet made their highly anticipated comeback with "Queendom" after two years. Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment's TWICE announced the release of their first-ever English single "The Feels."

K-Pop girl groups are raising the bar higher every month and for this article, we listed the most popular girl groups based on their Instagram follower growth for the month of August. 

Leading the ranking is YG Entertainment's BLACKPINK who gained over 962k new Instagram followers. Composed of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose, BLACKPINK is also the most followed K-Pop girl group on Instagram.

Next on the list is TWICE from JYP Entertainment. The nonet gained over 587k new Instagram followers for the month of August, totaling their follower count to 20.15 Million.

Meanwhile, 4th generation leading girl groups aespa and ITZY ranked third and fourth places, respectively. On the other hand, "Queendom" singer Red Velvet completes the top five with 278k new Instagram followers.
