Amidst The Recent Gaslighting Scandal, SM Entertainment Halts NCT & WayV Lucas’ Activities!
Not long ago, NCT and WayV's Lucas became embroiled in a dating and gaslighting scandal that was posted by a Twitter user.
NCTzens (the fandom name of NCT and its sub-units) went on to defend their K-pop idol, but recently, it seems as though the allegations might have been true.
As of writing this article, yesterday on the 25th of August, NCT and WayV Lucas went on to post a handwritten letter of apology in Chinese on his personal Instagram. In the captions, Lucas translated what he said in the apology letter into Korean.
Notably, Lucas explained that he was able to garner help from his acquaintances in making the translation. Not long after Lucas' post was uploaded, his agency, SM Entertainment, went on to release an announcement regarding Lucas' future with the company and both NCT and WayV.
Similarly, on the 25th of August, SM Entertainment went on to drop a statement. The Korean Entertainment agency went on to announce that WayV's Lucas would be halting his activities to do some reflection for his actions.
SM Entertainment's statement is as follows:
"Hello. This is SM Entertainment.
We apologize for causing concern due to our artist Lucas's personal life.
We recognized the seriousness of this matter and have decided to halt the release of all content for WayV's Lucas and Hendery's single 'Jalapeño,' including the song and music video that were scheduled to be released on August 25 at 6 p.m. KST.
Lucas is deeply reflecting on having caused great pain and disappointment due to his wrong behavior, and the agency also feels responsible for our poor management of the artist.
We once again deeply apologize for causing concern to many people including fans with Lucas's personal matters."
Moving forward, SM Entertainment has not announced the termination of Lucas' contract with the agency. Only a hiatus has been noted. NCTzens initially proved the previous allegations to be false but the apology letter says otherwise now.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding the matter.
