BTS x Coldplay? Big Hit Music Releases Statement Regarding Collaboration Rumors
2021 has been a year full of collaboration rumors between K-pop artists and Western artists and netizens have been loving it.
Recently, BLACKPINK's very own Rosé was seen in a restaurant eating with a director, a stylist, and popular young artist Olivia Rodrigo. This in turn sparked rumors of a possible BLACKPINK or BLACKPINK Rosé and Olivia Rodrigo collaboration.
Aside from that, Lee Ji Eun or more popularly known as IU and Zion.T were embroiled in a rumor regarding a collaboration between YG Entertainment's AKMU. This started after netizens noticed a mysterious file in a specific story post on Instagram.
To further add to the fire of the K-pop x Western music collaboration, the most popular K-pop group in the world has been rumored to release a new song with one of the most popular bands in the world. With that, will Big Hit's BTS have a part in Coldplay's new song?
As of writing this article, yesterday on the 15th of July, the lyrics of a possible new Coldplay song entitled "My Universe," was notably posted on MatchLyric, a music lyric database website.
From this, it was seen that there were Korean lyrics and that BTS was featured in the song.
The uploaded lyrics had voices that supposedly belong to Chris Martin of Coldplay and Jungkook's BTS.
To further more hints on a Coldplay and BTS collaboration. The two bands have had back and forths on social media, prior. More specifically, BTS released a cover of Coldplay's hit song "Fix You." Following this, Coldplay went on to commend BTS.
Following the rumor, which spread instantaneously, Warner Music Korea and Big Hit Music reported, "It is difficult to confirm the related content."
It means that Warner Music Korea and Big Hit Music do not deny nor confirm a Coldplay and BTS collaboration.
If Coldplay and BTS do make a collaboration, it will surely be one of the most highly-anticipated releases of this year.
