BLACKPINK Hit Song 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' Hits 1.6 Billion On YouTube
The popular girl group BLACKPINK has hit another milestone as their hit song "DDU-DU DDU-DU" hits 1.6 billion views on the popular video streaming website, YouTube. The group's label YG Entertainment confirms this on June 4.
It was only last April that the group's official YouTube page has already surpassed 60 million. The channel reached its subscriber count as of April 13, KST.
Last year, the group was the most-subscribed-to female artist of all time and surpassed American female artist Ariana Grande's subscriber count. They, later on, exceeded the subscriber counts of popular Western artists like rapper Eminem, Ed Sheeran, and DJ Marshmello. They are officially the second most-subscribed-to musical artist in the world to date, just right after Justin Bieber.
With the group's continuous growing popularity, there is a massive chance that the group may still be able to surpass JB's YouTube subscriber count.
BLACKPINK officially debuted in August 2016 and released its first single album titled "Square One." The songs "Boombayah" and "Whistle" were included in this album and gained massive success in the music charts.
Recently, the Chinese idol survival show "Youth With You" has garnered so much attention and fame since it has been active for three straight seasons now as BLACKPINK's Lisa is in the show as a mentor along with a plethora of famous idols and celebrities. The show is the Chinese counterpart of South Korea's survival show, "Produce 101."
A music critic previously commented that BLACKPINK's group image was one of the major factors to why they stand out from the other K-pop groups out there. He explained that they had powerful swag and a powerful, luxurious image. This is also why many popular luxury brands like Dior and Chanel would really like to have them as their brand ambassadors. BLACKPINK has also collaborated with a lot of international brands, from apparel to even video games.
The group not only focuses on their music, but they also balance it off with their fashion and visuals. Everything from their fashion sense to their music style and group brand all blend well together to make one of the perfect K-pop girl groups to date.
