Fitbit's Charge HR and Surge fitness trackers have a new software update to monitor users' fitness activities better.

The new feature is called SmartTrack that immediately detects any fitness activities using either Fitbit's Charge HR or Surge where all workout activity information can be stored in the Fitbit app. The wearable device default settings will store activities with a minimum of 15 minutes but can be modified depending on the user's preference, according to CNET.

Fitbit's Charge HR and Surge's SmartTrack is capable of recording fitness activities such as hiking, running, biking, sports and aerobic workouts. It can also monitor a user's workout even on a stationary bike, doing zumba, kick boxing or even dancing. This update can be activated using Multi-Sport modes on the Fitbit Surge and Exercise Mode using the Charge HR.

By wearing the Charge HR or Surge before doing any fitness activities lets the device track a user's pulse rate, duration and even the amount of calories burned. The company also included weekly exercise goals to their mobile app to their update, according to PC World.

Vice President of interactive, Tim Roberts said, "At Fitbit we're always working on innovative features that are easy to use and make tracking health and fitness a fun, motivational experience," according to PCMag.

"These new features allow them to focus on their exercise, giving them credit for their most active moments and letting the technology do the work to automatically track progress toward their fitness goals," Roberts added in a statement.

The SmartTrack update rolled out effectively on Nov. 23 and is available worldwide for both Charge HR and Surge devices. The exercise goals for the mobile app are already available for iOS and Windows smartphones. Customers can buy the Charge HR for $150 and Surge costs $250, reported Engadget
