Ryu Sera & Fefo Caires

Recently on the 4th of May, Ryu Sera, formerly of 9Muses, had an interview with Fefo Caires, a Youtuber that focuses on K-pop. In the interview, Ryu Sera shared her past in the K-pop industry, such as facing blackmail, why she left 9Muses previously in 2014, and more.

As per Ryu Sera, she had an expiring contract with her then agency, Star Empire. During her days as an idol, the former leader and vocalist said that she always questioned whether or not she was a good addition to 9Muses or not.

The former K-pop idol shared that the other 9Muses members were tall and slim compared to her. Even her past agency, Star Empire, almost always reminded Ryu Sera that she was not enough at all.

Due to her constant anxiety, Ryu Sera took the initiative and really thought hard about what was better for 9Muses.

Moreover, Ryu Sera shared what went down during her contract renewal. She shared that she wanted to put more terms such as 9Muses being able to be present during concept meetings and having more participation in decisions regarding coming releases.

After the discussion, Ryu Sera just read a random article one day that featured her, which said that she was leaving 9Muses.

Ryu Sera shared, "I think my boss thought that I crossed the line when I asked too many things, like us deciding what songs and concepts or what to wear in the future. I don't think he liked it."

As the interview went on, Ryu Sera has shared that she has since made peace with the CEO of her previous company around three years ago. Ryu sera believe that she "no longer in threat" and that her previous boss is no longer going to break her leg if they meet.

Although not as regular to the current days K-pop industry compared to the past, some K-pop idols and trainees are still regularly being treated horribly.

Hopefully, negative experiences will no longer happen in the K-pop industry as time further progresses.
