Samsung Launches New Powerhouse Galaxy Laptop
On the third 2021 Galaxy Unpacked event by Samsung, the Korean tech giant released the Galaxy Book lineup. The Galaxy Book, Galaxy Book Pro, and the Galaxy Book Pro360 were announced. One, in particular, caught the eye of many content creators and gamers, the Galaxy Book Odyssey.
The Galaxy Book Odyssey will be the first notebook to house the NVIDIA RTX 3050 series mobile graphics. It also features Intel's latest-generation Core i5 and i7 processors. It weighs 1.85 kilograms and measures 17.7 millimeters in thickness.
The 15.6" panel used in the Odyssey is a TFT LCD with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. Powering this beast of a device is a big 83Wh battery that comes with a 135W USB-C charger.
Users may choose to get between 8, 16, or 32 gigabytes of memory and up to 1 terabyte of SSD storage. Both memory configurations are upgradeable since there are two slots for both RAM and NVMe storage.
Other features include an HD web camera, Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi 6, and Dolby Atmos support. There is a variety of port selection as well, including three USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an Ethernet port, and a microSD card slot.
Enthusiasts may get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Book Odyssey starting at 1,399 USD. It is expected to begin shipping in the U.S. by August 2021.
Regarding the other releases by the Korean tech company, the Galaxy Book is the most basic variant. However, its internals is nothing to ignore about. The Galaxy Book Pro series have two display variants: 13.3" and 15.6". Some variants of the laptop carry a SIM slot for LTE connectivity, and display panels with Super AMOLED technology allow stylus functionality. There are many choices in terms of processor, graphics, port selection, and display panels among the four releases.
