Samsung Expected To Top Global Smartphone Sales In 2021
Samsung Electronics is poised to maintain its number one status in terms of worldwide smartphone sales this year amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The said South Korean tech giant is said to top the global smartphone market despite challenges from other Chinese brands.
According to Strategy Analytics, the market share of Samsung in 2021 is projected to reach 20 percent. This could still increase as worldwide smartphone shipments are seen to grow by 6.5 percent.
Apple Inc., an American multinational technology company, is projected to land at the second spot in 2021. Its market share is seen at 16 percent this year, just the same as its total share last year.
Meanwhile, Chinese giants Xiaomi Corp. and Vivo are said to rise to third and fourth spots, respectively. The former is seen to have 13 percent market share this year, while the latter is expected to have 11 percent share.
Oppo, another Chinese tech giant, is also projected to be in the fifth spot this year, with 10 percent of the total market share.
Strategy Analytics claimed that Chinese brands are growing rapidly this year, inching closer to their competitors in terms of global sales. Linda Sui, the senior director of the said marker researcher, even stated that 2021 is the year of Chinese smartphones.
"In Asia Pacific, Vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo will become top three players driven by aggressive marketing, expanding channel footprints and competitive pricing," she quipped.
As previously reported, Samsung will already release another budget-friendly smartphone in South Korea. The Galaxy A32 is expected to boost the sales of the tech giant to maintain its top spot in the global market.
The Korea Herald reported recently that the price of the said smartphone is 374,000 won ($330). Its main camera is 60 megapixels, the depth sensor is 52 megapixels, the ultra-wide lens is 8 megapixels, and the macro camera is 5 megapixels.
