Spotify is the world's biggest music streaming platform in terms of subscriber count. With over 345 million users and 155 million subscribers as of the fourth quarter of 2020, Spotify has been a staple music streaming platform for most. It also holds more than 4 billion songs, including some of our favorite K-Pop acts.

For an artist, getting just a percent of the 345 million Spotify users as subscribers is a big feat, let alone 20 million.

As of March 16th, YG Entertainment girl group BLACKPINK exceeds 20 million Spotify subscribers making them the first-ever girl group in the world to do so. In 2019, BLACKPINK overtook Fifth Harmony's position as Spotify's most-followed girl group, and since then, the quartet's followers have more than doubled - a feat that further solidifies their unrivaled position as a top global girl group.

Aside from dominating Spotify, BLACKPINK has also set records after records on the video streaming platform: YouTube. As of this writing, the "Ddu-du Du-du'' singers have over 58.8 million subscribers and a total of 26 billion views.

Such statistics show BLACKPINK's current influence on the global music scene as Spotify and YouTube are the leading platforms that fans engage on. The "Kill This Love" singers' newest achievement is a testament to the global music fans' interest, as well as expectations and confidence towards their future releases.

Currently, the popularity of the quartet from YG Entertainment is rapidly following the fame of prominent global pop stars such as Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish, among others.
