BLACKPINK’s Rosé Shares How Her Members Supported Her Solo Debut
Prior to the official premiere of her solo debut album, BLACKPINK's Rosé sat on an online press conference on V LIVE where she shared the whole creative process behind "R" and other details about her highly-anticipated release.
The New Zealand-born singer dropped her solo album, which consists of two tracks, "On the Ground'' and "Gone," both of which are in English. According to the BLACKPINK vocalist, she took inspiration from her experiences from pre-debut up until her success with BLACKPINK. She shared that she wrote her songs in English because she thought it was most fitting to convey her message.
Throughout the whole process, Rosé said that she was very hands-on and even revealed that she had originally recorded "Gone" two years ago while "On The Ground" was recorded recently.
When asked about her members, the BLACKPINK star shared how Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo reacted and supported her for her solo debut.
Rosé revealed that Jennie gave her a very sweet gift. She said that the "SOLO" singer gave a bracelet to her dog. Meanwhile, the eldest BLACKPINK member Jisoo was very happy when Rosé told her about her solo debut.
"I remember Jisoo telling me, 'Do what you've always wanted to do,'" Rosé shared.
In addition, the BLACKPINK vocalist shared that Lisa was so excited about her debut that she told every staff member about how amazing the music video for "On The Ground" was.
Rosé's fellow BLACKPINK members Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa also sent their congratulations for the "On The Ground" singer's long-awaited solo album during the V LIVE show.
As of this writing, Rosé's music video for "On The Ground" has over 13 million views, while her album has broken sales records for Korean female soloists.
