BLACKPINK’s Rosé Blossoms With ‘On The Ground’ Debut
March 12 is the day that BLACKPINK's Rosé makes history with her breathtaking solo debut.
BLACKPINK's Rosé blossoms in her official music video for "On The Ground." The vocalist of BLACKPINK premiered her debut music video at 0 AM EST, and within just 4 hours after the release, it garnered more than 9 million views.
Ahead of her highly-anticipated debut album drop, BLACKPINK's Rosé held a press conference where she confessed that even with her soaring success, she "found the most important things in life on the ground."
"In the process of making this album, I got to look into myself, realizing how much I love music and that I am the kind of a person who learns from music and gets comforted by it," she said.
BLACKPINK's Rosé is the second member to debut solo after Jennie. The album's title, "R," signifies Rosé's not just the first letter of her name but also her new start as a soloist. "R" consists of two English tracks, "On the Ground" and "Gone." Previously, Rosé unveiled the latter during BLACKPINK's online concert last January.
"Since I've been preparing for this album for such a long time and our fans have been waiting for it as well, I wanted it to be satisfactory," BLACKPINK's Rosé shared during the press conference.
The BLACKPINK vocalist also shared that she was very hands-on during the whole creative process of her first solo album. "So from the design of the album to my first songwriting participation, I tried to express my honest self through 'R,'" Rosé revealed.
Meanwhile, presales for "R" totaled more than 400,000 four days of its release making the 24-year-old singer the fastest Korean female soloist to reach that achievement. Rosé is also set to showcase her debut single on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on March 16 and is the first Korean solo artist to do so.
