Baedal Minjok is one of South Korea's popular food delivery apps. Since the start of the pandemic, these kinds of mobile apps have been in demand as users are no longer required to go outside to order food. Just a few taps and food is delivered to your doorstep.

Kim Bong-Jin, Founder and Chairman of Woowa Brothers Corp. that owns and operates the Baedeal Minjok app, has announced that they are planning to give 88 million U.S. dollars worth of stocks and incentives to its hardworking employees and delivery riders. A report confirms that around 1,700 employees and delivery riders are eligible to receive the incentive. The company has already sent messages to those eligible for the generous incentive on Thursday.

Each employee is expected to receive an average of USD 43,000, but this would depend on their work period. If the employee has been under contract with the company longer, they will have a bigger chance of getting more shares.

Delivery riders will still be able to get a slice of the share. Riders who have been under contract with the company and delivered more than 20 items per day for an average of 200 days will receive around 1,700 to 4,400 dollars.

New riders, fixed-term employees, and temporary workers under Baedal Minjok will be able to receive cash payments between 880 to 1,300 dollars.

In a statement, it was noted that the said stock gifts have nothing to do with Chairman Kim's recent donation plans to society. This is his way of disposing of some of his shares to give out the incentives to the workers.

Upon hearing this news, there was a mix of opinions from different people regarding the number of given shares. However, it's incredible to know that these essential workers' hard work is finally paid off-most especially during these challenging times.
