Breaking the stereotype of typical Korean historical dramas, which revolves around a very serious plot, evil magistrates, and sad endings, "Mr. Queen's" ended on a happy note both in the story and in ratings.

The hit Korean drama "Mr. Queen," which stars actress Shin Hye-sun and actor Kim Jong-hyun, recorded its best TV rating with its final episode on February 14.

Nielsen Korea reported that the 20th and final episode of "Mr. Queen" received a nationwide rating of 17.2371 percent in South Korea, while it got 18.554 percent in the metropolitan area.

This high rating achieved by "Mr. Queen" on its final episode not just marks a new personal record high for the korean drama series but also made it the join "Crash Landing on You," "Goblin," ''Reply 1988," and "Mr. Sunshine" as tvN dramas with the highest ratings, at fifth place.

Moreover, its high finale ratings also placed "Mr. Queen" as the seventh highest-rating drama on cable TV in South Korea.

The drama's high finale ratings are to no surprise as "Mr. Queen" hit the number 1 position in the ratings since the airing of its first episode last December 12, 2020. The warm public reaction towards the drama can be attributed to its humor and storyline as Korean culture critic Kim Heon-sik said, "'Mr. Queen' features a unique combination of a common body-swap story and historical settings. Its comical and humorous tones and strong narrative have kept people tuning in to the series."

Lead actor Kim Jong-hyun who plays the character of King Cheoljong, expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who tuned in to the drama from day one.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the many viewers who liked and enjoyed 'Mr. Queen.' If I could give viewers a little laugh during these difficult times, it would be a great joy for me," said Kim Jung-hyun.

"Mr. Queen" was Kim Jong-hyun's second major drama project after starring in the Korean drama phenomenon "Crash Landing on You" as the con artist Goo Seung-joon who fell in love with North Korean socialite Dan.
