Hands-Free Sleekness: Nike’s Latest Innovation In The World Of Shoes
Initially announced in 2012, Nike finally released complete details on their completely hands-free sneaker: the Nike Go FlyEase.
The aesthetic completely revolves around the patent-pending mechanism in the heel part of the shoe. Once stepped on, the feet can now easily slide out of the Nike shoe if slight force is applied upwards, as seen in the recently released endorsement video.
Back in 2012, Nike received a letter from Matthew Walzer, a then 16-year-old with Cerebral Palsy. The letter noted that Matthew wanted to attend college without going under the stress of having someone else tie his shoes for him. This gave the initial blueprints on how Nike wanted to help. After contemplation, the Nike Go FlyEase, Designed by Tobie Hatfield, was made to address accessibility and empowerment so that anyone can wear shoes with style and with inhibitions.
Reviews have commented on the Nike Go FlyEase's innovation in comfortability. This, however, does not sacrifice the ability of Nike to create a design that is neutral and gender-friendly for all sneakerheads and shoe aficionados. As of writing this article, only one colorway has been released by Nike. That being a neon tone of green complimented by peach and baby blue colors on a black and white sole.
"It's intuitive - easy on, easy off - and evidence of how design, innovation and engineering can meet to answer an ambitious North Star: the creation of a hands-free shoe." Nike shared in the description of the sleek Nike Go FlyEase.
The Nike Go FlyEase will be available for select and exclusive Nike Members on February 15 and is slated for a worldwide release this year on an unspecified date.
