Red Velvet, BTS, IU, BLACKPINK and More Win Big At 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards
For ten years now, the Gaon Chart Music Awards continues to recognize the best performing Korean Artists. Since its first broadcast, the prestigious awards show has provided a stage for some of the most iconic performances in the Hallyu scene. However, this year, the organizers of the 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards decided to skip the performances and focus only on the awarding of winners.
According to the General Director Choi Kwang-ho, such a shift away from stage performances will not "undermine" the ceremony and was a necessary move to minimize the risk of potential coronavirus spread.
"Even without a splendid performance, it is meaningful. I'll show you that an awards ceremony is possible," said Choi.
Meanwhile, for the second year, Super Junior's Leetuk and ITZY's Lia graced the awards show as the MCs.
