Mark your calendars because IU will be releasing a single this January 27!

The K-pop star's agency, EDAM Entertainment, confirmed yesterday, January 11, that the idol is set to drop the first track for her much-awaited 5th comeback full-length album.

According to the management, it will be IU's first time trying the genre, but they hope that fans will love it, regardless. The anticipated track, on the other hand, is described to have a "bright, cheerful pop sound."

Meanwhile, the crooner first hinted at the comeback album earlier this week, during her speech at the 35th Golden Disc Awards, after she took home the Digital Daesang (Grand Prize) or otherwise known as the Digital Song of the Year, for her song, "Blueming."

"I am planning to release a new album. I think it will be a full album. I hope to release at least one song in January that can bring sincere comfort to those who are tired and suffering right now," IU said during her speech. "I think I will be able to release a song that is refreshing and gives people strength. In order to become a singer that UAENA can be proud of, I will not waste a single moment in carelessness," the singer added.

This will be the idol's first album after a three-year hiatus, with her last studio album being "Palette," which was released in 2017.

On another note, IU has released the digital single titled "Eight" last May 6, 2020, which was a collaboration between the singer and BTS rapper Suga, who also produced the track. Fans worldwide buzzed with excitement and were quick to call the song "the collaboration of the century" between "two musical geniuses."

Additionally, the singer also had a recent acting gig when she led the cast of the fantasy KDrama, "Hotel Del Luna," back in 2019.
