BLACKPINK, IZ*ONE, TWICE & More: K-Pop Girl Group Albums With Highest First-Week Sales Revealed
It cannot be denied that 2020 has been a very good year for the K-Pop industry. As a matter of fact, numerous bands have made their comebacks while some released their new tracks last year.
Recently, Koreaboo listed the top K-Pop Group Albums that garnered the highest first week of sales. Surprisingly, almost half of these LPs were released in 2020. It is a fact that most critics base the success of an album on the number of units sold during its first week after release.
"The Album" by BLACKPINK nabbed the No. 1 spot. The latest LP of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rose was released on Oct. 2, 2020 with its carrier single titled "Lovesick Girls." "The Album" was bought more than 689,000 times during its first week.
Coming in second place is "Oneiric Diary" by IZ*ONE. The album of Jang Won Young, Kim Chae Won, Sakura Miyawaki, Kim Min Ju, Lee Chae Yeon, Kwon Eun Bi, Ahn Yu Jin, Nako Yabuki, Jo Yu Ri, Kang Hye Won, Choi Ye Na and Hitomi Honda was released on June 15, 2020 with its carrier single titled "Secret Story of the Swan." "Oneiric Diary" had sold over 389,000 copies during its first week.
"BLOOM*IZ" by IZ*ONE took the third rank. The said LP was released on Feb. 17, 2020 with its carrier single called "Fiesta." "BLOOM*IZ" was bought more than 356,000 times during its first week.
Coming in the fourth place is "One-reeler/Act IV" by IZ*ONE. The album was released on Dec. 7, 2020 with its carrier single called "Panorama." "One-reeler/Act IV" had sold more than 355,000 copies during its first week.
"More & More" by TWICE took the fifth spot. The album of Sana, Chaeyoung, Jihyo, Dahyun, Nayeon, Mina, Jeongyeon, Momo and Tzuyu was released on June 1, 2020 with its carrier single titled "More & More." The LP was bought more than 332,000 times during its first week.
"Eyes Wide Open" by TWICE (245,000 copies), "How You Like That" by BLACKPINK (204,000 copies), "Feel Special" by TWICE (154,000 copies),"Fancy You" by TWICE (151,000 copies) and "Kill This Love" by BLACKPINK (146,000 copies) completed the Top 10. See the full list here.
