Goo Hara's Twitter Account Posts Mysterious Message
Fans of the late Goo Hara were surprised when a cryptic message was suddenly posted on her Twitter account on December 14.
The message simply read "123, 9ld9c". While some fans tried to find meaning in the random numbers and letters, more were concerned at the idea that her Twitter account has been hacked. Many criticized the move, asking the hacker to just leave the account alone with respect to the late idol.
Goo Hara was found dead in her home on November 24, 2019, a little over a month after another idol and her close friend Sulli, committed suicide. Prior to this, she had previously attempted suicide on May 26. Before her attempt, she was embroiled in a trial against her ex-boyfriend hairdresser Choi Jong-bum.
He was accused of not only domestic abuse but also threatening her with posting a sex video that was filmed without her permission. Fans were angered after he was found not guilty of filming her illegally because she continued to be in a relationship with him, but he was eventually sentenced to prison for being guilty of threatening her and the physical assault. But fans were not happy because his sentence was only over a year.
Her death brought about the approval of the Goo Hara Act, seeking to change the inheritance law in the country. The petition was started by her elder brother, Goo Ho In, after their biological mother tried to get ahold of half of Hara's inheritance. But she had abandoned them to the care of their aunt and grandmother.
The bill, which was passed into law on December 1, allows parents who have did not fulfill their parental duties to be disqualified from getting the inheritance of their children. In the previous law, parents who did not raise or provide for their children still had a right to their inheritance.
