The Boyz, ATEEZ, and Stray Kids Confirm Participation In 'Kingdom' After MAMA Collab Stage
More boy groups have confirmed that they will be joining Mnet's new show, "Kingdom." Through a special stage at the Mnet Asian Music Awards held on December 6, boy groups ATEEZ and Stray Kids teased that they will be appearing. The Boyz have been confirmed for months, having won "The Road to Kingdom," which was held earlier this year.
The special collaboration stage featured one member for each group, Juyeon from The Boys, San from ATEEZ, and Hyunjin from Stray Kids. The three boys were seen in what was a choreographed fight scene. At the center was a crown that they were battling for.
"Kingdom" is the second season of the popular show "Queendom," which aired from August to October last year. It featured popular girl groups battling it out to who is really number one by releasing songs at the same time. Hosted by Jang Sung Kyu and Lee Da Hee, the girl groups that participated were AOA, Mamamoo, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, (G)I- DLE, and former 2ne1 member turned soloist Park Bom.
In 10 weeks, they had several stages and released a comeback single. At the end of the broadcast, MAMAMOO was declared the winner, edging out Oh My Girl.
Before the second season was aired, Mnet aired "Road to Kingdom" to determine who can secure a spot in the next season. 7 boy groups participated, namely PENTAGON, ONF, TOO, Oneus, Verivery, Golden Child, and eventual winner, The Boyz.
Now that fans know to expect these three boy groups, they are even more excited for the upcoming season. Mnet has not yet announced who else will be joining "Kingdom." It was earlier reported that the show will begin shooting by January of next year and will be airing in the first half of 2021.
