Ellison Kyoung-jae Kim, more popularly known as Eli and a former member of K-pop boy band U-KISS, has announced his divorce with his wife Ji Yeon-soo six years after their marriage.

The 29-year old rapper took to his Instagram account and shared the heartbreaking news. Eli's post consists of a black picture with a caption that bears the sad announcement. Furthermore, Eli also shared that their four-year-old son is under the care of his racing model ex-wife.

In his Instagram post, Eli wrote: "Hey everyone. 2020 has been a rough year for all of us. I have some news I would like to share with all of you... My wife and I have decided to separate. I am currently in the US and Michael is living with his mom in Korea. Though I am unable to see Michael at the moment I will go to see him whenever I can and try my hardest to be the father figure that he needs. I don't know what the future has in store but I pray that Michael and his mom will be happy. We are truly grateful for all of your support over the years and I apologize that things ended this way."

In December 2014, Eli surprised his fans when he announced his marriage to Ji Yeon-soo. He also revealed that she was pregnant. It was later known that Eli and his wife registered for marriage in June, six months prior to their official announcement.

They soon became parents to their son, Michael, in 2015. Two years after, they officially held a wedding ceremony.

Eli debuted as a rapper in the now-disbanded boy band, U-KISS in 2008. He officially left the group in May 2019 after 11 years. In an Instagram post, Eli thanks fans for their support throughout his career.

"Thank you all for all of your support over the past 11 years," he said.
