White House Chief of Staff: We’re not going to control the pandemic
The Trump White House has given up on containing the Covid-19 virus.
On October 25, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows stated that the administration is "not going to control the pandemic" and will instead hope for a vaccine.
To date, the Covid-19 pandemic has taken the lives of 225,000 Americans and in the past two days, the US has seen its highest spike of fresh cases.
Just last Saturday, the US reported 79,852 new coronavirus infections.
Meadows appeared on CNN's State of the Union, where anchor Jake Tapper pressed him on why the White House is not to get control of the virus. He said, "Because it is a contagious virus just like the flu."
It is also important to take note that Meadows said the pandemic can only be controlled through "vaccines, therapeutics, and other mitigation areas."
Despite that, Meadows reassures everyone by saying, "We are making efforts to contain it."
On the other hand, Democrat's Kamala Harris slammed Meadows for comparing coronavirus to the flu.
Harris called Trump's pandemic response as "the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of America."
The Covid-19 pandemic has continued to affect the US, infecting about 8.7 million Americans. It also remains the biggest issue tackled in the presidential race.
