BTS New Album, Map of the Soul 7, Proves to Be Runaway Hit With Most Albums Shipped
BTS's new album, "Map of the Soul 7,"soared in sales even after just one day of its release. "Map of the Soul 7," released in February, is set to be unmatched in sales for a Korean album, not only for the year 2020, but potentially of all time.
According to a Korean ranking chart, Gaon, the album has surpassed every other album released this year in terms of copies shipped to stores. With less than a full month since its release, the album has already shipped 4.114 million copies. Stores are still struggling to keep up with the demand of the album, a report from Forbes says.
The number of albums shipped for BTS's "Map of the Soul 7," beats the second most most shipped Korean album ten times over. IZ*ONE's "BLOOM*IZ" is still very successful but has shipped only about 400,000 copies.
While sales will likely decline for both albums, experts expect that BTS's "Map of Soul 7" will keep some momentum and decline at a much slower rate.
