Korean actor Lee Dong Wook will debut as the new MC of the survivor show Produce X 101 this week. The Goblin star has revealed his reason for deciding to accept the offer to host the show.

Lee has joined the rank of Produce 101 MCs that includes Jang Geun Suk, BoA, and Lee Seung Gi. The Touch Your Heart actor admitted that it is a big challenge for him to host the show. He jokingly told the members of the media in a press conference that he feels like one of the 101 participants too.

However, Lee has his reason for deciding to become the main MC of Produce 101 Season 4. The Goblin actor said he wants to become a support system for aspiring singers. He hopes to help them by sharing his experiences from working in the same industry.

He explained that although they are in different genres in the industry, Lee Dong Wook believes that he can share some thoughts with them. The actor added that he also hopes that the participants will comfortable with him and treat him as their older brother.

"I've also had to train to become an actor, and I had a waiting period as well. It may be different industry categories, but I believe it'll be good for me to share some of my know-how and thoughts," said Lee.

The fourth season of the show, tagged as Produce X 101, is set to premiere on May 3 at 11 p.m. KST on Mnet. It is scheduled to air every Friday for 12 weeks.

Ahead of the premiere, Mnet has also dropped a teaser for the pilot episode of Produce X 101. It teased the intense scrutiny from the judges as well as something new coming up in the show. In the clip, MC Lee can be heard saying the number of trainees that will win and debut as a group will not be 11.

In the first two seasons of the show, 11 trainees were chosen to debut as a group. In Season 3, 12 members made it into the list and they eventually introduced as the female group IZ*ONE.

Another new in the show is that the winners will be given an extended contract of five years. Mnet representative Kim Yong Beom has explained the decision to extend the contract of the winning group.

He said the first two and a half years will be spent exclusively promoting with the group. Then the remaining two and a half years can be combined with activities in each member's respective company.
